People coming to me lately and ask me what to expect from hair extensions.
* Do they hurt?
When you first have hair extensions they can feel heavy as it’s an extra weight added to your hair you don’t normally have.
My best advice for you is to NOT tie your hair up tightly in a high bun/pony.
This will help with any discomfort and stop your hair from pulling.
Having loose / low pony’s will work best.
* What lengths do they come from?
The hair extension brand I use come in two different lengths.
20 inches
24 inches
If you’re looking for shorter hair I can cut it to the length you desire
* How long do they last?
If you follow the correct aftercare advice given the hair itself can last for over a year! YES, a whole year!
* How long does my hair have to be to have them put in?
Your hair has to be at least 4 inches long to have extensions put in.
* Is there a certain brush I have to use?
I can highly recommend the Denman tangle tamer paddle brush. The bristles are soft and kind to your hair.
* How often do I need to do my maintenance?
Hair extension maintenance is between every 6/8 weeks
* Can I go swimming?
Avoid chlorine and seawater. It can cause dryness and damage to your hair extensions.
If you are a swimmer or going on holiday you can either wear a swimming cap or id personally recommend for you to put conditioner On your hair as it will create a protective barrier against the sea salt or chlorine. It will help stop your hair from drying out.
* How should I sleep
When sleeping I could recommend to you to sleep with a silk pillow this will help stop your hair from matting and getting dry I’d also recommend for you to sleep with your hair in a plat or a high bun.
* What happened to my natural hair shredding
Naturally, a day use you lose between 70 to 100 hairs therefore some of the hairs that naturally may be caught in extension and will be a viable at the route and you’ll be able to see some root strand which attached this is perfectly normal
