Well these Louis Vuitton braids certainly caused a stir last week. I’m going to be honest, they are not for me (maybe because I am not that brave) but when I saw them I thought they were definitely going to be part of the Festival scene in 2019. V Festival, Wireless, Pride and many others will be inundated with the crowds in their braids and I’m sure we will have some requests for this new craze here at the Salon.
These braids are sported by 27 year old rapper and graphic designer Magnus Juliano from Columbus, Ohio. Juliano shared this snap on social media last week and added the caption “Hey Virgil ABloh, can I earn an internship”. We love his confidence. Virgil is Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Artistic Director. Magnus created his handiwork using a 3D Printer. Magnus states the idea came to him in June of last year, it took him 6 months to create the design and finalise the look and says he faced many issues along the way as he failed in production on more than one occasion. We certainly love his creativity and we cannot see what this young gent brings to the table next. Maybe Virgil will be in contact with him? He certainly created some great publicity for Louis Vuitton!
2018 seems to have flown by and I am still struggling to write the correct year down whenever I have to. 8 days in now and it feels so weird having to write 2019. I will probably have got used to it by next week and 2018 will be a distant memory! 2019 brings us plenty of fun, with Glastonbury on the cards too, Festival season is not far upon us. Creamfields is set to be the event of the year and no doubt Magnus’ braids will be making an appearance by one of the hundreds of acts due to perform. Are you ready for Festival season? Be sure to book in your blow dries, tanning, waxing and anything else you need to be Festival ready well in advance to avoid disappointment. Hair up at a Festival is always great! You can enjoy the sun, beer and music, hit your tent and then be ready armed with the dry shampoo the next morning. Oh how did we live without dry shampoo before ay!
Your first Festival is always memorable, an experience that will stay with you forever and always. The outfits, the hair, make up and even Tent is planned well in advance and I distinctly remember having butterflies in my stomach a week before due to the excitement. I am a bit older now and cannot handle the full weekends away (unless in a luxury mobile home or even a hotel) but I do still love doing the day events. Some friends and I did Wireless a few years ago at the Olympic Park. My outfit was planned 3 months before we even went and of course I had my blow dry and hair band fitted by the team at Guys n Dolls. Small world as we had several customers in that Morning for hair prep ready for Wireless. Highlight of the day was seeing Justin Timberlake come out on stage as a surprise guest. Swoon! It was a day of great Music, laughs, chat and laying in the sun on the Hockey Pitch with a pint of Carlsberg. What a day it was!
Anyhow, enough reminiscing. I cannot wait to see what trends will hit us throughout 2019. Magnus has certainly set the bar with his LV inspired braids!
